Temporary Forms of a City

Set up to explore temporary forms of the city, the exhibition is conceived as a comparative apparatus: it relates and confronts a refuge with a festival, a market with a military camp… it shows difficult/impossible neighborhoods in an architecture that aims at providing the context for discussions on the complex connections and contradictions of spaces that we share as “resident aliens and temporary settlers”, as citizens and non-citizens; between faith and pop culture, between militarization and migration.

Köçek Pisti

The dance floor installed at ALT Art Space’s exhibition space during the Istanbul Design Biennial creates an environment for visitors to engage in dance. Live sets and performances of various DJs and musicians from Istanbul remix Ottoman and Arabesk with today’s sounds, while various video collages explore dance as a form of human self-design through the lens of the historic figure of the köçek (dancer).

Spuren spuren Athen

The show is the result of an architectural-spatial and performative-temporal research in contemporary Athens. To conflate both approaches, the notion of ‘Spuren spuren’ which is German for finding but also leaving traces, serves as a conceptual device. It focuses on fragments as both, material objects and mythical actions.
